
LARGO - When properly trained, citizens can become a tremendous resource to their community during emergency response. Therefore, Largo Fire Rescue is training citizens to become part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
CERT members become actively involved in the community by assisting in search and rescue of the injured during a local disaster such as a hurricane. CERT training covers topics such as basic search, CPR, fire extinguishing, and first aid.
The next CERT course begins Monday, January 30th. The course is made up of five 4-hour classes. Attendance at each class is mandatory for graduation. Classes are scheduled as follows:
Classes are held at the Largo City Hall EOC/Training Center, 201 Highland Ave. S (in the Police Department Parking Lot).
Requirements for Participation - Participants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver license, and be in good physical condition.
