Editorial - Make Your Views Heard In Washington

Now more than ever, Washington needs to hear from immigration reformers. Even the politicians realize that something has to be done about the nation's mass immigration disaster. Unfortunately, what the power brokers want to do is what they have done in the past. This is to pass a "reform legislation" which actually protects the status quo or even makes it worse. A perfect example was the 1986 "reform" which gave illegal aliens amnesty while promising strict enforcement - a promise never kept.

It worked then, so the pols are planning to do the same thing again. And they will, if they think they can get away with it. A leading bill introduced in the Senate, S.1033, offers amnesty to illegals along with weak promises of tougher enforcement.

To keep the status quo crowd from pulling this scam again, they need to hear loud and clear; no legalization for illegal immigration. And that means no legalization in the form of temporary legalization or guest worker programs. The pols are using these latter dodges to claim that they really aren't offering amnesty. Don't believe them. Amnesty in any form simply invites more illegal immigration. History since 1986 proves this conclusively.

To express your views to your representatives and senators, go to the AIC website, www.immigrationcontrol.com, and click "Legislative Action" on the left. It will provide information on how to phone, write, fax or e-mail Congress. With respect to e-mail, the site offers an east-to-use service to send e-mails to representatives and senators, along with descriptions of key bills and arguing points.

The pols want to push amnesty "reform" through as quickly as possible before people can figure out what they've done. Don't let them get away with it.
