INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - The 28th Annual Transparent Watercolor Show will open at the Beach Art Center on Feb. 6th and run through noon, Saturday, March 11th.
This show highlights the year for the Beach Art Center. Paintings eligible to show are limited to works that are executed only in transparent watercolor. Strict guidelines do not permit the use of other media, such as pen, acrylic, gesso, collage, or other materials.
All entries must be original and painted within the past two years. Particularly unique to transparent watercolor is that no white paint may be used. Any "white" must be the exposed watercolor paper. This is a difficult discipline to master, and many watercolor organizations have turned away to the inclusion of other media.
Chairperson for the event is Mary Spires of Largo. Ms. Spires' works have been featured in books and national magazines. She teaches internationally - workshops in transparent watercolors and decorative painting.
Juror for this show is Ann Abgott of Cortez, Fla. Ms. Abgott's work is a well-known watercolor enthusiast. She is a frequent award winner throughout the United States. Her articles are featured in many watercolor publications.
The show reception, honoring participating artists, is on Saturday, February 18th, from 4-6 p.m. at the Beach Art Center.
The Beach Art Center is located at 1515 Bay Palm Blvd. in Indian Rocks Beach. The phone number is (727) 596-4331. For additional information see: beachartcenter.org
