
All field trips are open to the public and most are free. Van trips involve sharing van rental expenses and require a reservation 3 days before the trip. Overnight trips involve additional costs for lodging and travel and also require reservations. In all cases, a contact is noted who can provide additional details. When the meeting place is Tri-City Mall, assemble outside the Party City store near U.S. 19. When the meeting place is Countryside Shopping Town, assemble outside Sears near U.S. 19.
Where there are no bathroom facilities at the field trip site, the trip is marked X; rest stops will be provided en route. For all trips, please bring drinking water.
Wednesday, February 1 at 8 a.m. - Eagle Lakes Park for raptors, migratory songbirds and more. Drive to trail heads and then enjoy a 1-2 mile walk through former Orange Groves in central Pinellas County. Bring lunch. Meet at Park. Contact Mike McDonald at 409-0459.
Saturday, February 4 at 8 a.m. - Moccasin Lake Nature Park for resident and migratory song birds, water birds and raptors in oak and xeric hammocks. Meet at Park for easy ¾ mile walk. Contact Joan Brigham at 446-9367.
Saturday and Sunday, February 11 -12, 6:45 a.m. - Merritt Island & Orlando Wetlands for migratory song, water and shore birds, bitterns, gallinules, wintering ducks, rails, bluebirds, turkeys, sparrows and storks. Van trip. Overnight. 1-2 mile walk; drive along dirt roads near Kennedy Space Center on Florida's East Coast. Meet at Coachman Middle School. Contact Paul Trunk at 447-4785.
Saturday, February 18 at 8 a.m. - John Chesnut Park for migratory songbird flocks plus water birds and raptors. Easy 1-2 mile walk on trails and boardwalks on the eastern shore of Lake Tarpon in north Pinellas County. Meet at the park. Contact Ellen Pfau at 786-3716.
Saturday, February 25 at 6:45 a.m. - Locklossa & Cross Creek, southeast of Gainesville for Bobwhites, bitterns, hawks, eagles, migratory songbirds, freshwater shore and water birds.
