(from left) Tom Campbell, chairman of the Sparkling Clearwater Depression Glass Club's 27th Annual Show & Sale, joins fellow club members Ethel Whitehouse, Marlene Witte, Alice Poppler, Ida Martens and Marianne Davis for a photo at the Harborview Center on January 21. Twenty-nine dealers from throughout Florida and other states, including Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Massachusetts and Illinois, participated in the two-day show which featured glass, china, pottery, dinnerware and kitchenware from the Depression era through the '60s. Poppler is president of the Sparkling Clearwater Depression Glass Club, which was founded in 1977 and whose main purpose is "to promote interest and education in Depression era glass, china and pottery". A portion of the proceeds from this year's show will be used for the purchase of reference books for Pinellas libraries. Persons interested in joining the club are invited to attend the meetings which are held the third Monday of each month. For details, you may phone 725-2069.
