John Murray, a 2001 graduate of Dunedin High School, has recently returned from his third tour of duty with the Marines in Iraq.
One month before 9/11, Murray joined the Marines and after training he was part of the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division. This division was one of the first into Baghdad and he was a witness to the statue of Saddam Hussein being sent crashing to the ground.
On the way to Faluja, John's unit was caught in a heavy ambush which resulted in the death of his lieutenant and the wounding of three of his friends.
Now back home in the quiet of Pinellas County, Murray is currently playing John of King Henry II and Queen Eleanor of Aqitaine's three sons in The Lion in Winter. He joins an outstanding cast of some of the most talented actors in our area.
The Lion in Winter is directed by Linda Woodruff Weir who last season directed the award winning The Miracle Worker at Francis Wilson Playhouse. The Lion in Winter opens on February 16 and will run through February 26. For tickets, call 446-1360. M-F, 1:30 - 5:30 p.m.
