Tax Collector Employees See 'Red' On February 3

CLEARWATER - Pinellas County Tax Collector employees joined in the American Heart Association's national promotion Friday, February 3, to raise awareness of heart disease issues in women by wearing red clothes to work. The employees raised $590 in donations for the American Heart Association during the one-day event.

Pinellas motorists were recognized by the Florida Heart Research Foundation in 2005 for being fourth in Florida sales of the Stop Heart Disease specialty license plate, www.heartplate.org

The year 2005 was a banner year for the Tax Collector's Office when it came to demonstrating the generosity of employees. Through direct contributions, or by means of fundraisers, employees raised $15,154 for a variety of charities:

In addition to money, 101 cell phones were donated to the Center Against Spousal Abuse, and over 730 pounds of food was donated to "American's Second Harvest" during the "Imagine" campaign. Employees adopted families and provided them with a bounty of food, gifts, and especially clothes and toys for the kids over the holidays.
