Those pictured were among the more than 60 volunteers who were honored that day for their service to the facility which distributes emergency food to the needy in upper Pinellas County. Volunteers perform a variety of duties throughout the year. Some answer the phones, while others interview clients or sort food. Delivering and picking up supplies is another service they provide. Volunteer coordinator Bill Trautwein advises that over 4,000 families are served each month at the RCS Food Bank, which is located at 700 Druid Rd. in Clearwater. Anyone in need can request emergency food twice a month, he said.
