World Languages Field Day Slated

SEMINOLE - More than 600 students, teachers, judges and community volunteers are expected to participate in the World Languages Field Day, Saturday, March 11, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Osceola High School, 9751 98th St. N. Seminole. This year's theme is "Embrace the World's Languages and Cultures."

Students will participate in workshops in areas such as making French fondue, Romanian egg painting, learning to dance salsa, fun with karaoke, preparing granizado (a Hispanic beverage), Mexican bark painting, making colorful quetzals and Arabic cooking.

Students also will be judged on their recitation of poems and their participation in extemporaneous speaking in English, Spanish, French, German, Greek, Latin or Italian.

In addition, schools are invited to participate in a dramatic presentation competition, during which school groups present a short play in the target language for an audience of judges and students.
