Beach Walk Construction Update:
The Beach Is Open And As Beautiful As Ever!

Visit south Clearwater Beach and you'll see construction that will transform the look and feel of the area. Phase I construction of Beach Walk is fully underway with the planned closure of Third and Fifth streets between Hamden and Coronado to all but local traffic for 30 to 45 days. Next week demolition crews will begin to remove the existing roads, sidewalks and curbs, in preparation for the installation of underground utilities on those streets. Utility lines will be located on Third and Fifth streets, as well as on a section of Coronado Drive. Project signs will be installed to assist residents and visitors.

When work on Third and Fifth streets is complete, construction will move to Coronado, which runs parallel to Gulfview Boulevard. Wide sidewalks will be added and the road will be converted to three lanes. During construction, there will always be one lane of traffic open in each direction on Coronado. Phase I will be complete in January 2007. The entire project will be finished mid-2009.
