ST. PETERSBURG - If your daughter shows an interest in the sciences, foster that curiosity by having her apply for a summer program at USF St. Petersburg. Girls can learn all about the exciting world of oceanography.
A special three-week day camp for girls, through USF's world renowned College of Marine Science, will take place in June. "Oceanography Camp for Girls" provides hands-on learning experiences as students explore the ocean. Activities include a research cruise, field trips, "real world" research and lots of fun.
"Oceanography Camp for Girls" runs June 26-July 14, 2006 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. There is no cost; students just have to provide their own transportation, daily, to USF St. Petersburg. All Pinellas County girls who are completing the 8th grade are eligible. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 31. Applications are available online at www.marine.usf.edu/girlscamp. USF St. Petersburg is located at 140 7th Avenue South in the downtown area.
