
The City of Indian Rocks Beach will host their annual beach bash, the Beauty and the Beach Festival, on Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The day will start at 8 a.m. at the County Park on 18th Avenue with Guppy's Gulfside Gallop, a 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk on the beach.
At 11 a.m, at the same location, the live music will begin featuring local bands.
The cake sale will be found in the King Gallery and the Indian Rocks Beach Rotary Club will serve breakfast in the Beach Art Center main hall from 7 to 11 a.m. Tickets for all-you-can-eat are $3.50 and may be purchased at the door.
Indian Rocks Beach Friends of the Library will hold its library sale in the city auditorium starting at 9 a.m. with a huge assortment of donated books all going for a small donation.
Follow the signs across Gulf Blvd. to Kolb Park and find 80 fine artists and crafters displaying their work from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. There will be a children's activity tent in Kolb Park and inflatables for children in the Joseph Campalong Little League Field. Talespinsters will mime their way through the park, entertaining children old and young. The Talespinsters are a creative performing duo that invite audience participation for children of all ages into a fun-filled learning experience through story telling and music.
The North Beaches Branch YMCA Volleyball Tournament registration is at 11 a.m. at the 18th Avenue access. Six-person teams will "tip-off" at noon; inexperienced teams are welcome.
At 1:30 p.m. the "Little Miss Beauty and the Beach Contest will be held on the beach at the County Park access.
Chalk Walk 2006 will grace Bay Palm Blvd. with street art modeled after the tradition of Italian street painters. The street will be marked off into 8'x8' squares where anyone who wishes may express their creativity in artist's pastels and children's chalk. Be sure to view this colorful venue on Saturday for it only lasts a day and vanishes with the sun.
Also, don't miss the Beach Art Center Pottery Studio members demonstrating the "wheel" and let anyone who wishes, take a turn.
The Beach Art Center will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, beer and soft drinks in the gazebo in the food area - a fundraiser for the art center.
Greyhounds of America will also be on site with their beautiful retired racers hoping to find a home.
