Beach Walk Construction Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Construction on Phase I of Beach Walk is right on schedule. Westra Construction Corporation continues installing storm drains on Third Street. On Fifth Street, workers are continuing to locate existing underground utility lines in order to avoid potential conflicts with the proposed underground utilities. A new, larger storm drain system is replacing the old one. Locating utility lines on Coronado Drive is about to begin. Coronado Drive remains open, as it will be throughout the project, with one lane of traffic in each direction. When construction is complete, the road will be converted to three lanes.

Another Hard Hat Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 2, with the time and location to be announced. We ask for patience from our residents, businesses and visitors during the construction project and look forward to continued dialogue and partnership. The Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) are working together in this exciting time of transition, recognizing that Beach Walk is an important component in the future of Clearwater and tourism in particular.
