Countryside Youth Soccer To Host Easter Tournament

College Exhibitions Featured On Friday And Saturday Night

CLEARWATER - The Countryside Youth Soccer Association will host its 22nd annual Easter Tournament this Friday through Sunday, April 14th-16th. Most of the 160 teams entered are from Florida, but teams from as far away as Georgia, Louisiana, Texas Michigan, Wisconsin, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Canada will also participate.

The youth tournament will be hosted at a number of venues, including the Countryside Sports Plex on McMullen Booth Road, Countryside High School and Eddie C. Moore Fields on Drew Street, all in Clearwater, as well as Dunedin, Largo, East Lake, and Oldsmar. The complete youth tournament schedule can be found at www.cysa.org/tournamentschedule.pdf .

A new feature of this year's tournament is a series of college exhibition games, with participation from the University of South Florida, Florida State University, Baylor University, the University of North Carolina, and the US Men's Under-17 National Team.

The exhibition marks the return of two Pinellas County soccer standouts, Brian Shriver of the University of North Carolina, who played for Clearwater High School, and Joey Brown of the University of South Florida, who played for Seminole High School.

The college exhibitions will be hosted at the Countryside Sports Plex on McMullen Booth Road. Parking will be available at the Countryside High School athletic fields, with the Jolley Trolley shuttling spectators to and from the Plex from 5:30pm until the games are over shortly after 10pm.

Saturday 4-15-at 6:00pm University of North Carolina Women vs Florida State University Women
Saturday 4-15-at 8:00pm University of North Carolina Men vs University of South Florida Men, featuring Shriver versus Brown

A large turnout is expected for the college exhibitions; arrive early, park at Countryside High School and ride the Jolley Trolley shuttle to maximize your enjoyment of what promises to be the most spectacular soccer event ever held in Pinellas County. Food and beverages will be available, and admission is free.
