Our national image of masculinity used to be a guy who could, and would, defend the women and children; a man who would do whatever was required to feed his family, including hunting or fishing, then grilling it over an open fire if necessary, to put a meal on the table. Men, who could open trails and guide settlers to the west, find passes through the Rockies, face hostile Indians, ranch and farm the desolate stretches of the Great Plains, fly flimsy aircraft in WWI and II. Real men who spoke the truth, acted decisively, looked like rugged individuals.
Instead we're given the two pretty-boys in "Brokeback Mountain" or told how metrosexual men should be comfortable getting pedicures, facials and just a touch of makeup so that look more like Peter Pan than John Wayne. We need to escape the feminization of our culture, the influence of what Rush Limbaugh calls the 'femi-natzis,' the manipulations of those who say biological characteristics are the only difference between males and females. The only way the sexes are equal is their sin before Almighty God.
We need old-time masculinity, cowboy thinking, real Retro-men. Guys who will always pay for a date, open the car doors for ladies, always put themselves between danger and a woman. Men who can deal with it; if it's a flat tire change it, if it's a mouse, roach, snake, a hurricane or an intruder, he can and will deal with it, if necessary kill the threat with or without a weapon, but he will never run from the situation instead, he will act decisively - he'll deal with it.
The United States is faced with a nagging influence to Europeanize our nation, to become like Spain and France who buckled under to the pressures of terrorists, like England with its fanatical obsession to remove all weapons, leaving the population to be terrorized by the lawless, of all Europe moving so rapidly as possible to leave Christianity behind and lose all distinctiveness.
Our high school and college courses do not provide assignments or reading of our Founding Fathers, heroes such as Daniel Boone who opened the way West, great admirals and generals and war heroes. Instead, we get social workers and refuse to admire men who 'damaged the environment' only those that tear at our social fabric. We need to return to the time when men dressed, looked and acted like real, Godly men, who can, and will, face danger and deal with it. Retro-men.
With thanks to Roy Huntington of American Handgunner for use of 'Retro-man."
