The Gift of Food was established in 2001 by two teenage girls. It has grown to include approximately 30 other teens who have participated at various times over the last five years. The teens' mission is to raise money for the RCS Food Bank. One hundred percent of the funds raised goes to food to provide for the needy in this community. To date, the Gift of Food has raised over $120,000 through Holiday Card sales, a donation is made by a business or individual in the name of the card recipient. For each $20 donation, a family of four is fed for two days. The Food Bank feeds approximately 4,000 individuals per month, 1,350 of these are children.
