Relay For Life Scheduled In Belleair

American Cancer Society volunteers Cheri Elliott, left, and Nicole Piccarreto, shown with son Jack, invite individuals, families, companies, organizations and others who would like to honor cancer survivors or pay tribute to family members or friends who have lost their battle with cancer to participate in the Relay for Life which is coming up in Belleair on May 19. Piccarreto is chairperson of the 18-hour celebration which will get under way with an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Town of Belleair soccer fields, which are adjacent to Town Hall. The event, whose purpose is to raise funds to fight cancer, will feature a campout, barbecue, dance and walk. Participants will light hundreds of luminaries at nightfall in recognition of those honored. Cancer survivors will walk the first lap. Individuals and teams will follow. A Survivorship Dinner for survivors and their spouses or caregivers is also planned in conjunction with the event.
