Clearwater Beach is as beautiful as ever, while Beach Walk construction continues. First and Third streets between Hamden and Coronado will soon be open, and work on Coronado Drive will soon begin.
Unrelated to the Beach Walk construction, one block of Coronado Drive between South Gulfview Boulevard and Devon Street will be closed to northbound traffic for approximately two weeks. A 24-inch diameter drill bit used by a Verizon subcontractor got stuck in a trench while relocating telecommunications utilities to accommodate the future Kiran Grand Resort & Spa. As Verizon subcontractors make a cut approximately 20-feet long into Coronado Drive to remove the piece, the road will be open for southbound traffic, and northbound traffic will be redirected to South Gulfview Boulevard. Northbound travelers can take Coronado and Hamden drives or Fifth Street to South Gulfview Boulevard toward the roundabout. It is Verizon's goal that all traffic lanes of Coronado Drive are open for Memorial Day weekend.
First Street between Gulfview Boulevard and Coronado Drive continues to be closed.
