Big East Baseball Tournament At Brighthouse Field

Clearwater - The top eight teams in the NCAA Big East Baseball Conference descended on Brighthouse Networks Field this week for their annual tournament. Notre Dame, Connecticut, Louisville, St. Johns, West Virginia, Rutgers, Cincinnati and local favorite University of South Florida will play a total of 15 games in a double-elimination format to determine the Conference Champion. The winner advances to the 2006 NCAA Championship Tournament.

The first day of competition saw Louisville defeat Rutgers 9-8, Connecticut beat Cincinnati 6-2, St. John's lose to West Virginia 5-3 and #8 seed USF lose to #1 seed Notre Dame 3-1.

Two games will be played today at 4 and 7pm. Friday's action will include games at 10am and 1pm, with the potential for two additional games at 5pm and 8pm depending on earlier results.

The Championship game will be played at 1pm on Saturday. Sunday is the tournament rain date if necessary.

Tickets are $10/8/3 for adults, and $6/4/3 for seniors and children.
