Twenty-one local students have been named winners of Bright House Networks' Volunteer Youth Awards for their commitment to their community through volunteerism.
More than 300 applicants for the awards were received from students throughout the seven county area served by Bright House Networks Tampa Bay Division.
Winning students performed at least 50 hours of community service throughout the year while maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or above. Thirteen first-place winners received a laptop computer and a $500 U.S. Savings Bond. Eight runners up received a $250 Savings Bond.
Students were recognized by Susan Juhl, Education/Community Relations Coordinator for Bright House Networks Pinellas Region, during the May 23 Pinellas County School Board meeting.
