Matinées at the Main Offer Free Movies, Popcorn

Clearwater, Fla. - Three classic films, popcorn and activities for kids are expected to draw families to Clearwater's downtown this summer. The Clearwater Main Street program, in association with the Clearwater Library System, will present its first "Matinées at the Main," Saturday, June 10, 2 p.m. at the Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Avenue.

Sponsored by the Clearwater Downtown Development Board, admission is free. There will be children's crafts starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by the screening of the film. Saturday's movie chronicles an internationally-known archeologist as he combs the darkest jungles of South America and the deepest sands of Egypt's deserts for long-lost treasure and ancient secrets.

The Bookworm Café is providing free popcorn, and food and beverages will be available for sale. "This is a perfect family afternoon," said Main Street Promotions Committee Co-Chair Lisa Mansell. "Have some lunch downtown and then catch a classic movie that everyone will enjoy."

Two other movies will be screened on July 8 and August 12.
