
TARPON SPRINGS - The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is pleased to announce the Summer Film Series: Museum in Popular Films which honor the Year of the Museum, co-sponsored with the Friends of Tarpon Springs Library. The films will be shown in the Museum Auditorium on Sunday afternoons at 1:30 and are offered free to all.
June 18 - Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1983, starring Big Bird, Snuffy, Cookie Monster and the rest of the Sesame Street gang; a one-hour musical for families following the Sesame Street gang's adventures as they find themselves locked in the museum overnight.
July 16 - Home for the Holidays, 1991, starring Holly Hunter, Robert Downey, Jr. and Anne Bancroft; museum curator loses her museum position due to lack of NEA funding.
August 20 - The Thomas Crown Affair, starring Pierce Bronson, Rene Russo and Denis Leary; heist at a major metropolitan museum by a rich, successful playboy.
The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is located just west of Highway 19 at 600 Klosterman Road, on the Tarpon Springs Campus of St. Petersburg College. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday; evening hours are Thursdays, 5 to 9 p.m., and Sunday hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free to children and students with ID. Sunday admission is free to all and docent tours are at 2 p.m. The Museum is closed on July 4 and other major holidays. Please call ahead for details and directions, (727) 712-5762.
