
DUNEDIN - The 27th Annual Kiwanis Mease Midnight 10K Run will kick off at 12:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 4, from Causeway Plaza at the corner of Curlew Rd. and Bayshore Blvd. (Alt. 19).
Additional distances are a 5K run starting at 11:35 p.m. Monday night, July 3, and a 1 mile run/walk preceding it at 11 p.m.
The race course, out and back on Dunedin Causeway, will be well lit, fast and flat. Over 700 luminaries will help light the way.
Proceeds benefit the many charities supported by the Kiwanis Clubs of Countryside and Dunedin; including Head Start, Special Olympics, Toys for Tots, Clearwater Children's Free Clinic, Blooming Places for Kids, Salvation Army and others related to the youth, seniors and the physically challenged. Since 1980, this event has raised over $418,000 for Kiwanis community charities.
Race applications are available at several area Chambers of Commerce, most sports, fitness, running and bike stores and Vision Ace Hardware in Dunedin. The 10K and 5K pre-registration entry fee is $15 per person 14 years of age and older, and $13 for runners 13 years of age and under. The 1 mile run/walk pre-registration fee is $9 for 14 years and older and $8 for 13 years and younger. Participants can sign up in person at either the downtown Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, 301 Main St., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., or Vision Ace Hardware at 1750 Main St., Dunedin, daily during store hours.
The race night registration at Causeway Plaza starts at 9:30 p.m., July 3, with the entry fee being $20 per person for the 10K and 5K and $10 for the 1 mile run/walk.
