DUNEDIN - The gallery becomes a runway and the runway becomes a gallery as the Dunedin Fine Art Center hosts its second Wearable Art Fashion Show. The show represents a unique opportunity for fashion enthusiasts to catch a glimpse of, or better yet, carry away the works of emerging and established Tampa Bay area designers. The runway show will feature designs by Airi*be, Laura Bond, Liza Berlin, Nancy Cervenka, Carly Champagne, Orianna Kurrus, Frank Strunk III, Aimee Trachtenberg and Marina Williams, while work by Maria Saraceno, Monica Naugle, Daniel Mrgan, Carly Champagne, Aimee Trachtenberg, Ryan Prado, Betsy Orbe Lester, Orianna Kurrus and others will be featured in the gallery.
Using base materials as traditional as fabric and as disparate as paper and metal, these designers push the envelope on the idea of clothing. Leaving behind the idea that form may follow function, they truly become . . . Wearable ART!
Building on last year's successful event, Special Event Coordinator Kaya Parwanicka has raised the height of the stage to allow for better viewing, and added a limited amount of reserved seats. Wine tasting, music, multi-media and a Cash Bar round out what is sure to be a festive, exciting and not-to-be-missed party at DFAC.
The evening gets underway at 8 p.m., Saturday the 5th of August, with the runaway show starting at 9 p.m. The Dunedin Fine Art Center is located at 114 Michigan Blvd. in "delightfully different Dunedin." Proceeds from the $10 admission will support education programs for all ages at DFAC. For more information call Kaya at 727.298.DFAC or visit www.dfac.org.
