Clearwater Fire and Rescue Helps Kids Get Back to School Safely

CLEARWATER - To remind drivers that school is back in session and to ensure the safety of our children, Clearwater Firefighters in bunker gear will assist students in getting "back to school" safely. Fire apparatus with flashing lights and safety banners will also add to the visual and focus attention on the topic. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an average of 23 school-age children die in school transportation-related traffic crashes each year. Of those, 17 are pedestrians.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue has partnered with the Pinellas County Schools to ensure the safety of students Tuesday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 9, from 7-9 a.m. (depending on school start time, see times below)
