Cancer Survivors Invited to Relax, Recharge, Remember at Morton Plant Caring Partners Camp Living Springs

Applications Now Accepted to Attend Nationally Recognized Adult Cancer Camp

CLEARWATER - Cancer survivors will be treated to the warmth of campfires and friendship when they attend this year's Morton Plant Caring Partners Camp Living Springs. The camp will be held in Ellenton, Florida - Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22. Applications to participate in the adult cancer survivors' camp are now being accepted by Morton Plant Caring Partners until Wednesday, August 30.

In years past, campers have come from all over the Tampa Bay area and beyond to take part in Camp Living Springs. Activities at the 10-acre retreat facility include canoeing, yoga, crafts, music and dancing. In addition, there will be a moving tribute to campers who have lost their fight with cancer. A wreath will be created and placed in the Little Manatee River in remembrance of former campers. Poignant stories of survival also will be shared.

Camp Living Springs is staffed by volunteers and is fully funded by Morton Plant Caring Partners. All food and accommodations are provided free of charge. To request an application to attend camp or for more information about Camp Living Springs, please call Morton Plant Caring Partners at (727) 461-8010.

In 2001, Morton Plant Caring Partners Camp Living Springs was honored with the Daily Points of Light Award. Sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation, the Corporation for national Service and the Knights of Columbus, the award recognizes organizations demonstrating an innovative approach to volunteer service. Camp Living Springs was also awarded the 2001 Extraordinary Program Award from the American Society for Directors of Volunteer Services.
