Cleveland Street Streetscape Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Cleveland Street Streetscape progress is continuing. Traffic was shifted from the north side of Cleveland Street to the south side from Osceola Avenue to just east of Garden Avenue Aug. 9. Now that the water main on the south side of Cleveland Street is almost complete, a 12" main will be installed on the north side.

The current traffic configuration from mid-block past Garden, east to Myrtle will remain in place for two more weeks as the contractor drills under the railroad, installing casings for the water mains. When the casings are in, installation of the 8" water main on the south side will be completed, water will be flushed into the pipes, and a water sample taken to the County Health Department for testing. When the sample results have been approved, the new line will be placed into service.

Work continues on the large storm drain from the seawall at the bluff east to Osceola Avenue, and Cleveland Street remains closed at that location.

Downtown patrons are reminded that two hours of free parking are being offered in the Garden Avenue Garage during construction, and most municipal lots and public garages in the area are free after 5 p.m.
