CLEARWATER - The 4th Annual "Fashions with Flair" Fundraiser, a benefit for the children of Tampa Bay will be held at the Belleair County Club on September 1, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. An anticipated 400 plus audience will enjoy a silent auction, great food, entertainment, and fashion show with local celebrity models.
Past fashion show models have included numerous women notable for their leadership roles in our community, such as Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala; Florida House Representative Kim Berfield; Cat Coats, wife of Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats; Kay Dillinger, wife of 6th Judicial Circuit Public Defender Bob Dillinger; and Theresa Hibbard, wife of Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard.
Last year's event raised over $25,000 which was distributed to the Boys & Girls Club in Clearwater and Winter Wonderland. This year's event aims to double that amount and will benefit:
The Homeless Emergency Project, Inc. (HEP) of Clearwater
The C.L. Kennedy Community Center
The Clearwater Community Volunteers' (CCV) Winter Wonderland event in downtown Clearwater
The HEP is the largest and most comprehensive provider of housing and support services for the homeless of Pinellas County serving over 55,000 meals in 2005. "Events such as the Fashions with Flair Fundraiser are a wonderful example of what is right with our community! We are pleased to be associated with a group dedicated to the betterment of the less fortunate in the Tampa Bay area," commented Executive Director Barbara Green.
Dr. Charles L. Kennedy, his wife, Yolanda, and their daughter, Jimirra, opened the C.L. Kennedy Community Center with the goal of "Creating Tomorrow's Leaders." CCV Chairman Joanie Sigal is "excited about the chance to contribute to the Kennedy Center, a group that has made such a difference in the lives of so many."
