Sizzling Matinee Completes Movie Series at the Main

CLEARWATER - The final movie event in the summer-long Matinees at the Main series will be held at the Clearwater Main Library August 12. A roaring '20s theme party gets underway at 1 p.m. with Charleston dancing, a best '20s costume contest and drawings for prizes. At 2 p.m., there will be a special screening of that classic comedy starring Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon as two musicians on the lam who join up with an all-girl band. This film sizzles with romance, steamy torch songs, and comic plot twists as Marilyn Monroe, the band's lead singer, befriends the unlikely pair.

Produced by the Promotions Committee of Clearwater Main Street, in cooperation with the Clearwater Public Library and the Downtown Development Board, the event is free of charge and open to the public. The library's Bookworm Café will provide free popcorn. The first-floor coffee shop will also be open with hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, and other snacks for sale.
