Pinellas County -- For the fifth straight year, the Countryside Outback juniors from the City of Clearwater summer camp programs have won the Table Tennis Championship Tournament, sponsored and supervised by the Sunrise Table Tennis Club (STTC). The Ross Norton juniors made a good run but fell just short of winning the trophy and placed second. This event is the culmination of the STTC summer camp program to instruct middle school youth in the skills of table tennis at City of Clearwater recreation centers.
The STTC is starting a new program on August 18th at the Ross Norton Recreation Center for young athletes (ages 11-18) to participate in the coming Rapper Table Tennis Tournaments. The youth will be trained in the basic skills of table tennis leading to sport and tournament play. Training will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Fridays and those players completing the training will compete in the monthly Rapper Tournaments with cash awards for 1st and 2nd place in 2 divisions. Participants will also be eligible for the STTC Junior Scholarship.
For more information on this program contact Tim at the Ross Norton Recreation Center or Al Palumbo of the STTC at 727-698-7814. More information about the STTC is available on their web site: www.SunriseTableTennis.com .
