
CLEARWATER - The dePaul School for Dyslexia's Saturday Literacy Program will begin September 16. The program focuses on improving literacy skills through instruction in phonics and phonological awareness, reading accuracy and comprehension, handwriting and written expression, auditory discrimination skills and vocabulary development and spelling. Instruction is available for individuals, grade-school age through adult.
Symptoms of dyslexia include difficulty following instructions; slowness completing written work; messy, poorly spaced, illegible writing; difficulty remembering spelling words and math facts; easily distracted; and working below grade level in spite of average or above-average intelligence.
