Obesity is a serious health epidemic affecting one in four Americans, according to the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) Foundation. It's estimated that more than 93 million Americans are obese and that number is expected to climb to 120 million in the next five years.
Morton Plant Mease Health Care is a sponsor of the Walk from Obesity and a provider of the Morton Plant Mease Obesity Wellness Program. This is a three-phase weight loss program combining exercise, physiologists and fitness specialists. The program is specifically designed for obese individuals with a body mass index (BMI) over 40.
