Representing the Florida House of Representatives, Rep. Tom Anderson (R-Dunedin/Holiday) presented a tribute to the 2006 Greater Dunedin Little League All-Star Team for their recent efforts in Florida State and Southeast Regional Little League Championship games during the September 21 meeting of the Dunedin City Commission. Rep. Anderson also read and presented to the team a letter of congratulations from Governor Jeb Bush.
The team was undefeated throughout the Florida District 13 and Section 7 championship games and proceeded to win the Florida State Little League Championship on July 31, 2006. The efforts of the players, coaches and manager propelled them into the Southern Regional Little League Championships held in Gulfport, Florida. They were undefeated throughout the championship games except for only two games lost to the team who won the National and World Championship.
Rep. Anderson said, "I think it's great that this talented team can bring recognition to Dunedin, to Pinellas County, and to Florida. I especially want to recognize these youths and their families, dedicating themselves to a wholesome sport and serving as a fine example to others."
