Indian Rocks Beach City Commission Reduces Millage Rate

Although facing the same challenges as those of Indian Rocks Beach residents: higher health and property insurance costs, higher utility rates, higher gas, oil and diesel costs and higher operating supply costs, the City Commission reduced the millage rate to 1.5200 from 1.7811, a 14.6 percent reduction. This is the fourth year the City Commission has reduced the millage - from 2.519 in 2003 to 1.52 in 2006 - a 40 percent reduction.

The City's General Fund for Fiscal Year 2007 is balanced with expenditures of $3,124,519, a 23.16% fund balance; a total budget of $6,531,984 and fund balance of 47.07 percent.

The budget encompasses a reduction in operating expenses of $400,396 from Fiscal Year 2006. The Fiscal Year 2007 Budget does not fund the vacant Librarian position, Planner/Analyst position and a vacant Public Services Worker position. It reflects a continuing effort on behalf of the City Commission to increase efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, increasing the market value for each taxpayer dollar.
