Come see what all the excitement is about! Heritage Village is looking for people who enjoy learning and sharing the history of this area to serve as volunteers at its 21-acre living history museum. A New Volunteer Open House is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, 10-11 a.m. Heritage Village is located at 11909 125th St. N., Largo. For more information, please call (727) 582-2426 or email: heritagevillage@pinellascounty.org
The Open House offers a chance to explore many interesting volunteer opportunities at Heritage Village. Come see what it's like to spend your time in this peaceful enclave of "Old Florida," surrounded by native piney woods and more than two dozen historic structures that tell the tale of bygone days. Help bring the Village to life for visitors, young and old. Volunteer positions are available for docents, living history presenters, receptionists, gift shop volunteers and library/archive assistants.
Docents will be trained in Florida and Pinellas County history, historic costuming, traditional lifeways and detailed information on the Village's historic structures. Docents provide tours of the House of Seven Gables, a grand 13-room Victorian home; the 1852 McMullen log house; a mercantile store and garage; a 1920's doctor's office; the 1896 Plant-Sumner home; the pioneer Lowe family barn; a 1924 railroad depot and caboose; and a late 1880's grove home.
