Luncheon to be Held in Recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

CLEARWATER - The faces of Domestic Violence lunch is designed to educate our community about domestic violence and its toll on all areas of life. The event will take place October 20 at the Harborview Center in downtown Clearwater and will last exactly one hour; doors open at 11:30 a.m., lunch begins at noon.

The presenting sponsors for this event are the GFWC North Pinellas Woman's Club, the GFWC Palm Harbor Junior Woman's Club, and the GFWC Woman's Club of Tarpon Springs. The event is also sponsored by the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin and Stein Mart. The lunch will feature Lynn Rosenthal, past president of the National Network to End Domestic Violence and special guest Lester Aradi, Chief of the Largo Police Department. Masters of Ceremony will be Tampa Bay Magazine's Margaret Word Burnside and Aaron Fodiman.

There are nearly 10,000 reports of domestic violence in Pinellas County each year. Additionally, domestic violence costs American businesses $727 million annually in lost productivity. Everyone is invited to this very important event to raise awareness about domestic violence. Business leaders are encouraged to attend and learn how they can make a difference.

The proceeds from the event benefit The Haven Domestic Violence Center which provides safe shelter, legal advocacy, counseling and outreach services for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
