Suncoast Sierra Club Meetings for October and November

The Suncoast Sierra Club meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at Moccasin Lake Park in Clearwater. The October meeting is a change of location for that month only.

October 19 - Night Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve at 7 p.m. Experience mysteries of the night as you discover the creatures that come to life after dark at the Night Hike at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve located along the shores of Lake Maggiore at 1101 Country Club Way South in St. Petersburg. The 245 acre park features more than three miles of trails and boardwalks that lead visitors through hardwood hammocks, sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, willow marsh and lake shore and is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. The meeting is usually free but there is a $2 fee this month for use of this facility. The meeting is open to the public and group will go to Chattaway's after for discussion. November 16 - 7 p.m. at Moccasin Lake Park off of Drew and 19 in Clearwater. Jeff Klinkenberg, of the St. Petersburg Times, will present, "Ten Books Every Floridian Should Read." Jeff is the author of Seasons of Real Florida and has spent a lifetime reading and writing about Florida culture. He has found inspiration in many books about our state and offers a list of works - fiction and non-fiction - that should be on every Floridian's bookshelf.
