
CLEARWATER - On Friday, September 28, Clearwater Civitans gave four $500 checks to three schools and the Homeless Emergency Project. Gail Cox, assistant principal of Paul B. Sevens Exceptional Training Center; John Frank, principal of Safety Harbor Secondary School; and Lenny Stacey, special project director of Calvin Hunsinger School, each received a $500 check from the donations to the Civitan Candy Boxes and Coin Box dedicated account.
Civitan Barbara Green, executive director of the Homeless Emergency Project, also received a $500 check donation toward their annual Christmas Party Program.
Following a period of fellowship, dinner and check donations at the Countryside Country Club, Florida District Governor Lynn Maurer, of Ovieda, Florida, commended retiring Clearwater Civitan Club President Ron Meier for the excellent performance of his club in service and giving of financial aid to the Clearwater community this year. Maurer then installed the officers for the new year charging them to continue the outstanding performance of past years.
Installed were: Fred Novo-Mesky of Largo, president; Frank Kelly of Palm Harbor as president elect; Sue Meier of Clearwater as treasurer; Betty Leiby of On Top of the World as corresponding secretary; Hilda Novo-Mesky of Largo as secretary; Carl Leiby of On Top of the World as Chaplain; and Ron Meier of Clearwater as Sgt. at Arms.
