I am hearing the rumbles already. Homeowners across the area are wondering if they are going to get a partial refund. Of what, you ask? Homeowner's insurance premiums; after all, we've not had a single storm.
Don't hold your breath. More importantly, don't get ticked off when the insurance companies start reporting their profits. I'm sure they will be high. Be thankful it has been a quiet year. Now is the time to be pro-active and push for meaningful insurance reform in the state. The legislature starts the new session in five months and the hurricane season is eight months away. That allows plenty pf time for citizens to put forth good ideas for change.
No matter what good ideas are put forth or passed in the legislature, don't expect refunds or rate rollback. The insurance industry has tasted the blood and they will not let go. It's reality.
P.S. I say do away with hurricane predictions. They're about as predictable as the weather report.
