Help Them Out! Be A Good Neighbor - Befriend A Parent!

All parents want to be the best they can be, but sometimes a parent is not sure how to achieve their best.

Help a Child, Inc. is looking for a few good neighbors to volunteer to help parents reach a confident and healthy balance in their interactions with their children. Befriend a parent who has asked for help, a parent who wants to better themselves and the lives of their children. Volunteer "Parent Aides" work on a one-to-one basis with a family through weekly in-home visits. Parents Aide Volunteers are very effective in changing the atmosphere within a home where a parent may be overwhelmed in their role as a parent. By working one-on-one with a parent, the Parent Aide soon becomes an emotionally supportive friend and role model for better parenting.

Parent Aides teach non-violent discipline techniques.

Parent Aides offer parenting tips and help develop positive parenting skills.

Parent Aides help parents increase their awareness of child development.

Parent Aides help with budget planning, household management, networking with other community resources, nutrition, setting goals and achieving them.

Parents Aides assist in meeting the daily emotional needs for the parent.

Be a volunteer role model for better parenting and help lighten the burden and pressing demands for a parent in your community. If you are a good listener, if you're a caring person, if you're concerned about the welfare of children and can spare a few hours a week, this is an enriching volunteer opportunity for you.

If you wish to be that difference in the life of a family, please call Kerri Aaronson at 727-544-3900, extension 168.
