Work continues on the large storm drain from Osceola Avenue to the bluff. Large sections of pipe and control structures that will connect them have been placed along Cleveland Street in preparation for installation. Motorists will be affected by street closures and subsequent detours at Osceola Avenue as installation proceeds. One lane of traffic is open in each direction along the remainder of the construction route. Water main and utility construction also continues on the north side of Cleveland Street. Existing meters on the south side of Cleveland Street are expected to be connected to the new service lines today.
Unique and lively arts in the midst of the Streetscape construction zone will be the focus of an art festival along Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater Saturday, November 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Clearwater Main Street and the City of Clearwater plan mix art and construction to add a unique element of excitement to the fifth annual Downtown Arts Stroll. Beautiful images of the completed streetscape will be part of the artwork on display. This 'artistic construction zone' event will include area artists, a living sculpture, musicians and drum circles with a "Stomp" element where attendees can join in the festivities using construction items. Sponsored by the Downtown Development Board, the event is free and open to the public.
Those seeking the latest information on the Streetscape project are invited to attend Hard Hat meetings at 8 a.m. the last Thursday of each month. The next meeting is scheduled November 30, location to be announced. Hard Hat meeting details will be posted along with other downtown construction information on the city's website at www.myclearwater.com/downtown.
