John Kerry Opens Mouth and Shoots Democrats in the Foot

By cj pollick

Seems as though Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) had to enter the political fray this week and make a joke about education and military people that serve in Iraq.

With several key congressional elections predicted to be "toss-ups," one might think liberal Democrats such as Sen. John Kerry, would quietly sit in the background and allow tough political campaigns to continue with regular doses of liberal media assistance. But no, Sen. John Kerry had to make a vain attempt of a joke criticizing the education of military troops sent to fight in Iraq. (Kerry actually inferred that if they had an education, they would not be fighting in Iraq.)

In a speech to a crowd Monday at California's Pasadena City College

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." Sen. John Kerry

As quickly as a cake would fall when pushed while cooling, Democrats across America came to Kerry's defense and tried to say that Kerry's comment (joke?) was really about President Bush (who, like Kerry, attended Yale.)

Perhaps what was more important about Kerry's failed attempt at a joke (talk about intelligent) is the fact that Kerry would quickly lead the military exodus from Iraq with a Democrat majority in Congress. This has caused many Americans to wonder about how Democrats would handle security issues in America. After all, it was under the Clinton administration that North Korea obtained more nuclear enhancements that North Koreans stated they would not be used to make nuclear bombs. Thus, there are legitimate questions for political candidates to answer when some have stated that anti-American terrorists would simply go away with new American leadership.

What about Kerry's remark?

Parents of military personnel thought it was distasteful. One parent said, "My son went to Georgetown University, he is bright and he chose to serve his country, there are many intelligent people in the military."

How might Kerry's failed attempt at a joke affect upcoming elections?

Perhaps just enough to cause some fellow Democrats to lose close elections.

What about the Republicans?

They seem to be glad Kerry is with the opposition party.
