Pinellas County -- The Golden Girls of the Sunrise Table Tennis Cub (STTC) prove there is still gold to be harvested out west. Competing in the Nevada state senior games and the Utah World Senior games, Sari “Dutch Woman” Kisbany, Nahed “The Egyptian Scorpion” Williams and Margo “The Magnificent” Lindsay won a total of 17 medals, 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. This dynamic trio was dubbed “The Golden Girls” many years ago because of their dominating play in the women’s division of local and state senior table tennis games.
The Golden Girls are members of the STTC located in Clearwater, Florida. The club is known for its open friendly atmosphere. “It’s like the television program Cheers, where everyone knows your name,” said Margo The Magnificent. The club has 115 members of all ages and playing skill levels. Club play is available seven days a week at one of three locations in Clearwater.
The STTC is supported by the Sunrise Sports Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization which promotes low cost or free athletic competition and educational clinics for all adults and juveniles. STTC currently provides subsidized instructions for seniors and free training for all juveniles under 18 years old.
