The Island Estates Yacht Club held their Annual General Meeting and Awards Night at the Clearwater Yacht Club on Friday, November 3rd. Sixty-eight members and guests were entertained and danced to the music of the Both Worlds band and dined on steak, salmon, and chicken dinners.
Commodore Mason Rascher presided over the meeting in which members approved a slate of 2007 Officers and Directors which will include Tom Smith - Commodore, Wayne Millington - Vice Commodore, Fran Briskman - Rear Commodore, Jack Heckert - Secretary, Patricia Ostrosky - Treasurer, Bob Landreth - Two-Year Director, and John Speck - Two-Year Director.
Commodore Special Award plaques went to Dawnn and Doug Kiemig and Joyce and Tom Smith for notable efforts throughout the year on various events. Other members recognized for chairing permanent committees were Fay and Nick Nicholson, Jeannie Macpherson, Marcia Coxhead, Dawnn Keimig, and Bill Blum.
Special recognition went to the Social Director Team of Norma Soukup, Joyce Smith, and Olga Millington.
Members approved several by-law changes including adopting the policy that members must attend three events in a calendar year and participate on at least one event committee.
The Island Estates Yacht Club is responsible for the Memorial Holiday Boat Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 9th. Please contact Fleet Captain Bill Blum for parade registration.
