LARGO, Fla. - Are your kids looking for something fun to do while school is out for the holidays? Look no further for the best hands-on fun around! Heritage Village’s Winter Break Camp, December 26-29 and January 2-5, 1-4 p.m., offers kids the chance sample a slice of life from long ago. Children ages 5-11 will enjoy different activities every day!
During Week 1, “Home on the Range,” campers will play old fashioned games, make crafts with treasures from the sea while learning about coastal living, rope “steers” as they learn about cow hunters and show off their new pioneer skills from using a washboard to grinding corn.
During Week 2, “Tin Can Jamboree,” campers will learn about Florida’s early tourists, from singing railroad tunes on the red Caboose, tinkering with vintage vehicles at the Mercantile Garage, setting up a citrus stand and squeezing some juice, and learning how to weave palmetto fans.
The Winter Break Camp fee is $50 per week per child for members of the Pinellas County Historical Society; or $60 per week per child for non-members. Pre-paid registration is required.
Heritage Village is located at 11909 125th St. N., Largo. For more information or to register for camp, please call (727) 582-2426 or email: heritagevillage@pinellascounty.org.
