More than 2,000 visitors ushered in the holiday season at the Pinellas County Florida Botanical Gardens Seasonal Sensations - An Illuminated Garden opening event Saturday, Dec. 2.

"The Seasonal Sensatio <> ns kick-off was an exciting, fun-filled evening in the beauty of the lighted Florida Botanical Gardens," said Mary Campbell, Director, Pinellas County Extension. "Visitors listened to music and enjoyed fun family activities in the glow of more than 400,000 throughout the gardens."

From stylish carolers to a parade of winged wonders, the festive evening was brimming with brilliant lights along with a wide variety of entertainment. Little ones made bird feeders, gingerbread houses and more. Pinellas County representatives mingled with visitors handing out information about everything from Animal Services to the County Connection Centers. Good food, like lemonade and kettle corn, kept everyone coming back for more.

This ceremonial lighting of the Seasonal Sensations display began a free month-long celebration of the season. Holiday music and 425,000 twinkling lights will greet visitors every evening until 10 p.m. until Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007. A garden railway display will delight youngsters and those young at heart. The Florida Botanical Gardens are located at 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo.
