Work continues on Phase I of Beach Walk. Construction workers have started to install both a 16-inch and 6-inch water main between Coronado Drive and Gulfview Boulevard, on Hamden. Irrigation workers are on site to install the system that will eventually be used to water palm trees. Progress Energy is also on site to install the conduit and wiring for streetlights.
Last week, a 16-inch water main tap was done to tie in to the existing 16-inch water main, just South of Gulfview on Coronado. Workers are continuing to install a new water main so that they will be able to do another water tap in about three weeks. At that point, the new water line will become active, and the old water line will be abandoned. This work will be done with no interruption to water service.
The City Council is expected to award the contract for the remainder of the Beach Walk project at the Dec. 14 Council Meeting. Phases II, III and IV will be completed under the contract.
A map showing the status of projects on Clearwater Beach was recently updated. The color-coded map indicates projects that are pending, approved, under construction or completed. There is a chart that indicates project names, addresses, status, units, and building heights. This information is available at myclearwater.com/beachwalk.
The next Beach Walk Hard Hat meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 9 at a location to be determined.
