Cleveland Street Streetscape Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Trackhoes install large structures that will eventually carry storm drain pipes under Ft. Harrison Avenue. The work to install the drain at the intersection is expected to be complete in the next couple of weeks.

The intersection at Ft. Harrison Avenue and Cleveland Street is the site of a big dig as large storm water drainage structures and pipes are installed across the intersection. The two blocks north and south of Ft. Harrison Avenue are closed with traffic diverted to the east around the site. The installation is expected to be complete and the road patched to accommodate traffic by Dec. 22. Motorists are urged to use Myrtle Avenue, now the official Alt 19 route through Clearwater from Lakeview Road to Marshall Street.

Streetscape work in the Osceola Avenue to Ft. Harrison Avenue block continues. Cleveland Street businesses remain open and pedestrian access is available on both sides of the street, with interruptions at Ft. Harrison Avenue where the current storm drain work is underway. Pedestrian access should be restored when the route is reopened to vehicular traffic.

Due to the winter holidays, there will be no Hard Hat meeting in December. The next Hard Hat meeting is scheduled Thursday, January 25, 8 a.m., at Pickles Plus Too on the west side of the Harborview Center.

Downtown construction information is available on the city's website at www.myclearwater.com/downtown, and questions can be addressed through the Streetscape construction office at 462-6126.
