Dancers Keep On Tapping

Photos/text by Sandy Fahy

The above pictured members of the Grandmother Rockettes were caught on camera following a holiday appearance in early December. The dancers, most of which are in their 70s and 80s, tapped their way through eight performances between Thanksgiving and Christmas. From left, they are Frances Lung, Peg Cameron, Fran Norwood, Jackie Winslow, JoAnn Kupsis and Vi Weaver.

Members of the senior dance troupe, "Steps in Time", were spotted rehearsing at the Morningside Recreation Center in Clearwater on a recent Thursday morning. Preparing for an upcoming performance are (front row l-r) Sophie Firme, Pat Johnson, Elda Thomas, Marilu Dumont, Judy Curtis, Marie Hefferman, (back row l-r) Joyce Hapenney, Theresa Barrick, Cookie Manning and Sandy Stange. Dumont, the leader of the group, offers beginner and intermediate tap dance instruction at the center, which is located at 2400 Harn Blvd. For details, call 507-4065.
