The Osceola Avenue to Ft. Harrison Avenue block of Cleveland Street remains closed as crews move ahead with streetscape construction work on the west end of the project. Curbs for the roadway, medians on both sides of the street, and cutouts for parking spaces are now clearly visible. Crews are beginning to prepare the road bed before permanent road surfaces are installed in that block. The Ft. Harrison Avenue and Cleveland Street intersection is closed as work that remains on the large storm drain beneath the intersection is completed. Cleveland Street is also closed from Ft. Harrison to Garden avenues for infrastructure work. Closures of additional intersections will be announced in the coming weeks as infrastructure work continues eastward. Crews are currently on schedule to complete the Osceola Avenue to Ft. Harrison Avenue block by the end of February.
Banners across Cleveland Street at Ft. Harrison and Myrtle avenues confirm that businesses remain open in the construction zone. Downtown patrons are encouraged to take advantage of two hours of free parking in the Garden Avenue Garage, or additional parking along Osceola Avenue between the Main Library and Cleveland Street. Construction information is available on the city's website at www.myclearwater.com/downtown, and questions can be addressed through the Streetscape construction office at 462-6126.
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to the next Hard Hat meeting scheduled Thursday, Jan. 25, 8 a.m., at Pickles Plus Too, on the west side of the Harborview Center. Free coffee will be served.
